NEWLY QUALIFIED SOLICITOR EVENT “ONE OF HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEAR”

One of the highlights of BLS’s calendar this year will be our inaugural event, Presentation to the New Qualified Solicitors, which was held at the start of Legal Week on 11 October reports Sarah Pullin of Osborne Clarke. It proved to be a fabulous opportunity to celebrate the excellence within our city and for some new to Bristol to be welcomed into the Bristol law community.

Newly qualified solicitors joined together with training principals and family for informal drinks and canapés. BLS’s vice president, Ashley Palminteri, welcomed to the BLS’s Law Library - guests, sponsors and His Honour Judge Michael Roach QC who gave a short speech about life as a newly qualified. The presentation of certificates and photographs followed together with Wesleyan for Lawyers’ prize draw. Our appreciation and thanks to His Honour Judge Michael Roach QC and our sponsors, Wesleyan for Lawyers and Osborne Clarke, for making it such a memorable occasion. Ashley Palminteri commented, “Everyone really enjoyed it – some brought parents and to me, that demonstrates how important the event is”.

Burges Salmon has been an enthusiastic supporter of BLS for many years. BLS provides a valuable role in uniting and promoting the whole of the legal sector across Bristol to benefit both its members and the city. It facilitates collaboration across the sector to ensure that we can all make a difference. Three things to say about my experience of working with Bristol Law Society. Their central team, council members and general hangers-on are just about the nicest, most generous group of people working in the legal sector today. The numerous events, awards, socials and conferences I’ve had the pleasure to attend over the years have been, without exception, top quality and supremely organised.
