Obituary of Richard Twining Harris, Past President 2000/01

It is with sadness that we advise that Richard Harris died peacefully at home on 10 August,aged 82.

Mr Harris qualified in Bristol in 1965 after obtaining a Law Degree at Bristol University. Following 5 years, working for the Rio Tinto company in London he returned to Bristol to manage a commercial property company for 15 years following which he ran his own practice in Regents Street Clifton from 1988. He was a former member of the National Law Society Conveyancing and Land Law Committee. Joining AMD Solicitors in October 2010, retiring in May 2016.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sarah. A family funeral will take place on 15 September. A memorial service is planned for later in the year, the details of which we will be notified of in due course.

BLS breaks down barriers and brings those in the profession together for the greater good. We are proud of our long-standing association with BLS.

Three things to say about my experience of working with Bristol Law Society. Their central team, council members and general hangers-on are just about the nicest, most generous group of people working in the legal sector today. The numerous events, awards, socials and conferences I’ve had the pleasure to attend over the years have been, without exception, top quality and supremely organised.
