St John’s Chambers welcomes family law barrister James Adams
St John’s Chambers is very pleased to announce that James Adams has joined their Family & Divorce team.
James specialises in public and private children law. He has acted in serious cases involving child sexual abuse, inflicted injury, poisoning, alienating behaviours, extensive domestic abuse and jurisdictional issues. He has particular interest in cases where expert psychological evidence is being sought or has been obtained, given his background in academic child psychology.
He recently appeared as a lone junior in the Court of Appeal in Re H (A Child: Contact: Domestic Abuse) EWCA Civ 326 and has been instructed on several occasions in the High Court. He has acted at all levels of the Family Court.
James has been praised by clients for being “newly qualified counsel who you trust immediately” and “wonderful to instruct”.
Prior to coming to the Bar, James studied Education at St John’s College, University of Cambridge at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. He focused on the psychology of education. He graduated top of his undergraduate class with a Starred First, before completing his MPhil funded jointly by St John’s College and the Isaac Newton Trust. Whilst at Cambridge, James was the recipient of numerous academic awards and prizes. He joins St John’s Chambers from another chambers in the South West.
